Frenchie facts:
These little, adorable dogs are the result of breed crossings between English Bulldogs and Terriers. This resulted in much smaller, muscular mini bulldogs, with energetic character traits of the terrier. Partly due to their character, large eyes and upright bat ears, they have become very popular and in the beginning, especially in France, embraced as a favourite pet. Most French bulldogs can’t swim because they feature heavy bones and thick muscles. In addition to their weight, the other reason why bulldogs can’t swim has to do with their brachycephaly. Due to their short snouts, they must tilt up their faces higher to remain out of the water. Since they’re tilted up, they have more trouble staying afloat.
The French Bulldog is perfect with children. They are a great protector over little ones. The two of them will make great buddies. In addition to loving kids, frenchies are delicate with them, how cute is that?!
