Tyrannosaurus facts:

The Tyrannosaurus lived in the Cretaceous Era about 70 to 66 million years ago. Also known as the T.rex, this dinosaur’s enormous body stretched as long as over 12 meters from its snout to the tip of its tail. This incredible length is comparable to the size of a school bus. The T.rex is known as the apex predator of its time. However not everything about the Tyrannosaurus rex is as fierce. Their tiny, puny arms are still a source of debate for scientists. Some believe the dinosaur’s arms are a leftover of evolution. Others are certain the arms have adapted for attacking and holding down prey efficiently at close range.

The first Tyrannosaurus fossil was discovered in 1874. However at that time the archeologist thought it to be something else. Only as recent as 1904 the type species of the genus received the name: Tyrannosaurus rex, rex meaning “king” in Latin.
