Regal Angelfish facts:
The Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus), or royal angelfish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish. These fish are found in tropical Indo-Pacific oceans, like the Red Sea and Indian Ocean around East Africa and the Maldives. They inhabit coral reefs and lagoons that have abundant coral growth consisting of both hard and soft coral, especially with a lot of sponges. These sponges are a part of their main source of food.
With its vivid blue and yellow coloration these angelfish stand out underwater even when the visibility is low. One of the most beautiful and outstanding fishies out in the ocean if you ask us!
Did you know? As an aquarium fish the regal angelfish should only be kept in large tanks. They will not eat unless they are in the right surroundings. This is why only experienced aquarist’s should keep them.Â
