About Halloween:
Halloween is a celebration held in many different countries on the 31st of October. It is at the beginning of the observance of Allhallowtide. This is the time in the church year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows). In popular culture, this day has become a celebration of horror, being associated with the macabre and supernatural. Popular Halloween activities include dressing up in a costume and going trick-or-treating, where kids go house to house to ask for treats, often candy.
About Dia de los Muertos:
Also known as Day of the Dead, is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and remember friends and family members who have passed away.
Traditions connected with the holiday include honoring the deceased using calaveras and marigold flowers known as cempazúchitl, building home altars called ofrendas with the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these items as gifts for the deceased. The celebration is not solely focused on the dead, as it is also common to give gifts to friends such as candy sugar skulls, to share traditional pan de muerto (a sweetened soft bread shaped like a bun) with family and friends.
