Woolly Rhino facts:
The woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) is an extinct species of rhinoceros. The animal was massive, with two large horns toward the front of the skull, and was covered with a thick coat of hair. The latter being the greatest difference to the rhinoceros we know today. The woolly rhinoceros’ thick, long hair allowed it to survive in the extreme cold. Also, the hump on their backs contained a fat reserve which aided in survival through the desolate winters of that time. Its diet mainly consisted of grasses, sedges, vegetation, and woody plants. Marks on its fossils show it was hunted by large cats and by human hunters.
Woolly rhinoceroses remained in northern Eurasia until at least 14,000 years ago, and scientific evidence suggests that they were not hunted to extinction by human beings. The giant became extinct at the end of the most recent ice age, likely due to the sudden climate changes about 14,700 to 12,900 years ago.
This paper trophy of the rhino is a little smaller than a real one. Luckily. But it is at least as impressive as its real version, thanks to the geometric design and the smart light fall and shadows.
